Wedding photography isn’t
just about beautiful images.

It’s about understanding what matters to you, discovering the kind of experience you want, and choosing someone you trust to tell your story.

Why I Share This

Most photographers share galleries. I believe couples deserve more than a portfolio. Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during your wedding planning, and I believe it deserves more than scrolling through beautiful images.

Beautiful photographs are important, but choosing a wedding photographer is about much more than comparing portfolios. It’s about understanding how photographs are created, what kind of experience you want on your wedding day, and finding someone whose approach aligns with your values.

Throughout my career—as an educator, writer, and photographer—I’ve found that people make better decisions when they understand why something matters, not just what they’re looking at.

That’s why I’ve invested hundreds of hours creating books, guides, podcasts, and educational resources for couples planning their weddings. My goal isn’t simply to showcase my work. It’s to help you understand the ideas behind meaningful wedding photography so you can make a confident, informed decision.

Whether you ultimately choose me or another photographer, I hope these resources help you move beyond endless scrolling and comparison, and toward choosing someone whose work, personality, and approach truly fit the story you want your wedding photographs to tell.

Every couple’s journey is different.

Some couples begin by learning about photography.

Others are already comparing photographers or trying to make a final decision.

Start wherever you are.

Step ONE

What makes a wedding photograph meaningful?

Most couples start by looking at portfolios.

I think it helps to begin somewhere different.

Before you compare photographers, understand why some photographs matter for decades while others are quickly forgotten.

Step TWO

How are meaningful photographs created?

Great wedding photographs don’t happen because someone owns an expensive camera.

They happen because couples and photographers build trust, connection, and understanding together.

What matters most to us?

Now it’s time to think about your own wedding.

What memories do you hope to keep?

What experience do you want to have?

How involved do you want your photographer to be?
